The very popular MIT Business Socials, or MIT Business “Mixers,” is returning to the Crossroads Irish Pub with featured speaker Kenneth P. Morse.  The theme of the night’s event is ““The Spirit of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at MIT – What’s Hot and What’s Not.”

Over the months, the MIT Business Socials have attracted MIT alumni, young and old alike, to interact with like minded individuals passionate about entrepreneurship.  Hosted by the Professional Development committee of the MIT Club of Boston, the mailing list for the Business Social events has steadily expanded to over 700 members!  It is no surprise therefore that the theme for the first event to kick off the return of the series pays tribute to the spirit of entrepreneurship at MIT.

The MIT Business Socials are focused on informal interactions in an informal setting.  All of the events are hosted at popular bars around the Cambridge area, and the Financial District.  Typically, a theme is set for the night, and a guest invited to say a few words to trigger discussions and connections.  Once the stage is set, the floor is then thrown open to everyone to ask questions in a friendly, informal manner.

Ken Morse is a senior lecturer and the managing director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center.  He leads the MIT effort to train leaders to bring innovative concepts and new technologies to market, and build successful high tech startup businesses.

Based at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the MIT Entrepreneurship Center has the mandate to inspire and nurture the leaders who will be the next generation of High Tech Entrepreneurs and to foster research and collaboration, Institute-wide.  Participation in the student-run $100K Entrepreneurship Competition, as well as enrollment in New Enterprises and the Entrepreneurship Laboratory Courses, is open to students from Engineering, Science and Management, encouraging multi-disciplinary teamwork.
